Residence R is located in Little Squam Lake, New Hampshire. The front façade, approached by a long, winding road nestled in the surrounding woods, reveals a playful take on a traditional country cottage. The hand-modeled ceramic plaque (made by the house owner) located over the entryway contains a depiction of four fish and represent the clients four granddaughters.

In contrast to the simplicity of the front façade, the waterfront façade is a complex play on planes and angles. Each of the spaces overlooking the lake incorporates its own, individual view. Many terraces and balconies situated throughout the three-level structure create expanded outdoor living opportunities including the main first floor terrace off the kitchen, where the family convenes to watch the changing shades of sky and water.
